We chose appliances that would allow us to conserve electricity, yet still allow us the convenience of modern technology. Here's what we got:

Crosley Propane Gas Range - electric heat uses a lot of electricity, and cooking on a gas stove is so much nicer.

Wood's All-Fridge - eliminating the freezer section of a fridge cuts power consumption in half. We never had much in the freezer anyway. The only thing we're missing is processed frozen foods which we're better off without anyway!

Sears Kenmore Front-Loading Washer - front loading washers use two-thirds less water than their top-loading cousins. They are also gentler on clothes and require less detergent.

Clothesline - obviously uses a lot less electricity than a dryer would, and the clothes smell so fresh!
